Former PGA Tour and Electronic Arts Executive Paul Johnson Joins SimWin Sports Advisory Board

SimWin Sports, the world’s first virtual sports league that provides daily fantasy players and esports fans with the ability to watch, predict, collect, play, and earn, today announced the appointment of Paul Johnson of Orion Business Advisors to its advisory board. Johnson joins SimWin’s robust advisory board commission, including former Turner Inc. President David Levy, former Motown President Suzanne de Passe, and Former CEO of Time Warner and LA Clippers Dick Parsons, among others, a group of other high-profile key leadership.
“We are pleased to welcome Paul, a very familiar face, to SimWin. He has worked closely with several of our executives in the past,” commented SimWin Sports founder & CEO David Ortiz. “Paul’s extensive network and accolades in the industry are simply remarkable, and we are thrilled to have him join our incredibly senior team of advisors to enhance further our digital media, international broadcast, and streaming assets, as well as to increase future team sales.”
Johnson is an experienced Electronic Arts (EA) esports Leadership Team member. He led critical areas for the EA Esports Division, including developing external partnerships to grow the business. Johnson enhanced EA’s media footprint via partnerships like Twitch, ESPN, Turner, Fox, and Endeavor and focused on increasing audiences. In addition, he co-designed improved competition structures and formed key tournament operator partnerships, namely PGL, GLL, and Learfield College. He led specific development initiatives for EA for betting, fantasy sports, and NFT strategies for the Esports Division.
During his 20-year tenure with the PGA TOUR, which included eight years on the PGA TOUR Executive Committee, Johnson led all facets of the dynamic digital business, driving substantial growth in digital audiences and revenues and expanding all elements of the company while building clear market leadership. He oversaw the video game license and relationship with EA, including partnering with SimWin Sports CMO Tom Goedde to launch and promote the legendary EA SPORTS TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR video game franchise.
“I am ecstatic to join my colleagues and longtime business partners, David Ortiz and Tom Goedde, in this new and exciting venture,” commented Johnson. “My experience with all facets of sports, digital media, esports, and creating new business growth will be instrumental to continuing to kickstart SimWin’s growth. I look forward to advising the team to help SimWin shape its business and build strong partnerships to accelerate growth.”
