Grand Casino Luzern Partners with Light & Wonder in Swiss iGaming Market

Light & Wonder, Inc. has reached an agreement to launch its OpenGaming aggregation platform in partnership with Grand Casino Luzern, marking its initial entry into the burgeoning Swiss iGaming market. Grand Casino Luzern, a leading operator, has significantly impacted the Swiss online casino market with its ‘mycasino’ brand since its inception in August 2019.

The Swiss Federal Gaming Board (SFGB) reported that the regulated Swiss iGaming market had a Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) of $250 million in 2022, marking it as a promising area for growth. This partnership represents Light & Wonder’s first venture into this dynamic market.

Through OpenGaming, Grand Casino Luzern’s ‘mycasino’ brand will offer an array of captivating content from in-house and exclusive Light & Wonder partner program studios. Initial game offerings will include popular titles such as 88 FORTUNES™, RAGING RHINO™, and SPARTACUS™, with more additions planned in the following months.

Light & Wonder’s Swiss online debut aligns with its strategic focus on growing in regulated European markets. Already a household name in the land-based casino realm, the company now looks to provide top-tier casino experiences across various platforms, in collaboration with a wide spectrum of operators. Light & Wonder games have an existing strong presence on Swiss casino floors, suggesting potential for a successful digital transition.

Light & Wonder’s global omnichannel strategy has recently expanded its footprint into new markets, including North America and Latin America. The company has also completed several studio M&A deals to broaden the range of its iGaming content capabilities.

This strategic entry into the regulated Swiss market in partnership with Grand Casino Luzern underlines Light & Wonder’s commitment to providing an engaging, enjoyable, and responsible online casino gaming experience to its users.

Magdalena Podhorska-Okolow, MD Europe at Light & Wonder commented, “The regulated online market in Switzerland has been performing very well. We are thrilled to be making our market entry with Grand Casino Luzern, a strong brand in Switzerland with a player base that appreciate content with land-based roots.

“We will be launching our OpenGaming aggregation platform with a wide variety of gaming content, allowing Grand Casino Luzern’s customers access to a comprehensive range of relevant, compelling entertainment.”

Wolfgang Bliem, CEO of Grand Casino Luzern said, “Our constant goal is to provide players with the broadest range of casino games, including those containing the freshest innovations. Partnering with Light & Wonder and gaining access to household titles that players already love on the land-based side, allowing us to deliver the best content available within the regulated Swiss market.

“We look forward to rolling out the content exclusively on mycasino as we bring in Light & Wonder to the online market for the very first time delivering new worlds of play to our audience.”
