William Hill are thrilled to see Tracey Mooney, Team Leader of the leading bookmaker’s Prestwick shop in Scotland, crowned 2025’s “Racing Post/SIS Betting Shop Manager of the Year”.
The 55-year-old manager from Ayrshire (pictured above) fought off opposition from seven other finalists, and on receiving the prestigious award, the 13-year William Hill stalwart shared a powerful message to the government about the importance of betting shops for communities up and down the land, in light of potential gambling tax increase plans in this month’s Budget:
“The message to the government right now would be come and see us. Come and speak to our customers. We speak to customers, we interact with them, we keep them safe. We see them through great times; we see their photographs of their grandchildren. But we also give them hugs when they need them.”
Positive Culture
Betting shop culture has to continue, affirms Tracy.
“In this day and age when mental health is such a big issue, and times are hard, a community where our people can come and spend time with no pressure to do anything and just be themselves, is huge. That has to continue.”
Leo Walker, William Hill’s Retail Managing Director, reacted to the news: “We’re incredibly proud that Tracey Mooney from our Prestwick shop has been crowned this year’s winner!
“This competition is highly-respected across the betting and gaming industry, and to bring home a trophy this year reinforces the strength and reputation of the William Hill brand.
“Reaching the final eight is a huge achievement in itself, so I’d also like to congratulate Peter Wilde and Victoria Nichols for making it to this point of the competition, along with all of our talented Retail colleagues who have been involved throughout.”
