BREAKING STORY: In another major embarrassment for the UK government, full details of today’s Autumn Budget, outlining a £1.1 billion increase in gambling taxes, leaked before the live official announcement in Parliament by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves.
Remote gaming duty will rise from its current 21 percent to 40 percent from April 2026. The current 10 percent of bingo duty will be abolished.
A new general betting duty rate for iGaming of 25 percent will be introduced from April 2027 — excluding self-service gaming machines, spread betting, pool bets and horse racing.
Casino gaming duty bands have been frozen until 2026-27.
The government is aiming to raise an additional £1.1 billion in gambling taxes by 2029-30.
All in all Chancellor Reeves has announced some £26 billion in tax rises.
Also planned is a recurring Mansion Tax on houses that are worth more than £2 million, to be paid directly to the government and on top of current Council Tax.
