PENN Entertainment has officially opened Hollywood Casino Joliet, a $185 million land-based gaming property that replaces the former riverboat venue which had operated along the Des Plaines River since 1992. The new facility, located in Illinois, spans approximately 189,000 square feet and employs around 600 staff, with construction generating an estimated 450 jobs.
The casino features 1,000 slot and video poker machines, 43 table games and a retail ESPN BET sportsbook equipped with one of Chicagoland’s largest screens. Dining options include Sorellina by Giada, developed in partnership with chef Giada De Laurentiis, and Boulevard Food & Drink Hall, which houses Chicago brands such as Antique Taco and Pretty Cool Ice Cream, alongside concepts from chefs Shawn McClain and Stephanie Izard.
Additional amenities include Red Lotus Asian Kitchen, &Vine bar and entertainment lounge, and a 10,000-square-foot event center capable of hosting weddings, concerts, sports events, and community gatherings. The property operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is positioned as a major entertainment destination in the region.
