Stake.com Roulette Game Variants

Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the standout Stake roulette games:

Stake Original Roulette

This game has a very simple interface, and the online casino made it in-house. It has an RTP of 97.3%, and one of the standout features lets you customize auto bets. It’s an ideal option for beginners who want to learn the game at their own pace.

That means you can set up repeatable bets and decide how much you want to increase or decrease each wager depending on whether you win or lose. You can also stop when you reach a defined profit level.

Stake Roulette for VIPs

High rollers can access many roulette variants on Stake that provide high betting limits. Lightning Roulette has an upper limit of €250,000 per round, which should suit most needs. Many Stake live roulette variants cap the max bet at €20,000.

Mega Roulette Live

This Pragmatic Play variant applies between one and five random ‘Mega Multipliers’ of up to 500x each round to straight-up number bets. That means a lucky hit on a boosted number can pay much more than the standard 35/1. It’s a good choice for anyone who wants something different from standard roulette.

Lightning Roulette Live

Lightning Roulette Stake is one of the most-played live casino games on the platform. It’s made by Evolution, one of the most popular Stake.com game providers.

Lightning Roulette strikes between one and five ‘Lucky Numbers’ every spin, giving them multipliers of between 50x and 500x on straight-up bets.

However, the tradeoff means a regular straight-up win pays 29/1 and not 35/1. The game-show-style presentation and dramatic sounds enhance the experience, so it's a good fit for people who like the suspense.

Roulette First Person

This Evolution game lets you play at a virtual table instead of the standard live table with a human croupier.

It has a max bet of €50,000 per spin, and it gives people who haven’t yet tried live dealer games an ideal stepping stone. The graphics look just a bit more enhanced than the old-school RNG roulette games.

Russian Roulette

Apart from the Russian Roulette live game from Evolution, Stake also has an arcade-style burst game option made by Bread.

The gameplay is simple, as you decide how many bullets go in the gun and the number of drums before spinning the wheel. It departs from the standard wheel layout you’re used to, so it can be a breath of fresh air in between regular roulette rounds.

How to Play Roulette - Basic Gameplay

Anyone who wants to play roulette on Stake.com will get to grips with the gameplay quickly, even if they’re a total beginner:

Step 1: Load a Roulette Game

Browse the game lobby, type "roulette" into the search bar, or check the latest games section on Stake for new releases. Find one that catches your eye, then click it. The game should load straight away. We selected the Originals Stake Roulette game for this walkthrough.

Step 2: Select Your Chip Size

screenshot of stake.com roulette game

Once the game loads, you can decide on the chip value. This sets the size of the bet that you’re going to place on the different segments on the board. The chip values range from €0.01 to €1,000 for this game, that's the size of each individual chip, not the total you can stake in a round.

Step 3: Decide on Your Bet

A standard European Roulette board like this one has pockets for 0-36, but American Roulette adds an extra zero pocket, which increases the house edge. You’ve got plenty of options to bet on, including straight-up numbers, groups of numbers, odd/even, and red/black.

To place a bet, just click the part of the board where you want to place a chip. In our example, we clicked on the red pocket three times, giving us a total bet of €0.30 from our €0.10 chip value.

Step 4: Spin the Wheel

screenshot of stake.com roulette game win

Once you’re happy with your decisions, you can click “Bet” to spin the wheel. This usually takes a couple of seconds before revealing the result. In this case, the ball landed on 30, which is a red pocket, so our bet won and delivered a profit of €0.30.

Minimum and Maximum Bets

Each roulette game sets its own exact limits. For example, Stake Originals and Evolution-powered tables can have significantly different limits. Stake offers suitable options for both low stake roulette and high stake roulette players.

As you can see, inside bets are higher risk and reward, compared to the steadier payouts from outside bets. The worst value option is the five-number bet, which is only available on American roulette.

Roulette Wheel and Table Layout Explained

A standard European roulette wheel has a single zero pocket and numbers 1-36. American Roulette adds an additional double zero pocket, which increases the house edge.

On both the wheel and the inside grid, the zero (and double zero on American wheels) pockets are green. The other 36 numbers are split evenly into 18 red and 18 black, and the colors alternate around the wheel rather than following odd or even. So you'll see plenty of odd numbers in black and even numbers in red.

The outside boxes cover group bets, such as betting that the ball will land in numbers 1-12, or even-money bets like whether the result will be red or black.

If you’re trying to quickly calculate the possible payout from certain bets, here’s a simple formula you can use:

Total return = (sum of the payouts for every winning bet you placed, weighted by the chips on each) ÷ (total chips wagered).

For example, say you bet one chip each on black, 1-12, and odd — three chips wagered in total. If all three win, black pays even money (2 chips back), 1-12 pays 2:1 (3 chips back), and odd pays even money (2 chips back). That's 2 + 3 + 2 = 7 chips returned on 3 wagered, so 7 ÷ 3 ≈ 2.33 — you more than double your stake.

Roulette RTP and Volatility

The return to player (RTP) of a game indicates the expected return from playing millions of rounds. If a Stake Roulette game has a 98% RTP, that means the house edge is 2%.

RTPs vary by title. For example, standard European Roulette has an RTP of 97.30% versus 94.74% for American Roulette, due to the addition of an extra zero pocket for the latter.

Variants with multipliers added in will also differ. Lightning Roulette has a 97.3% RTP and Mega Roulette has a 97.3% RTP. You can see the RTPs of each game on Stake by checking out the game description.

Volatility dictates the typical frequency and size of your wins. Low-volatility roulette would mean picking even-money bets like odd/even or red/black.

These bets win more frequently, but they return less than higher-volatility options like a straight single-number bet, which is a lot less likely to happen but comes with rare big wins.

Some players like combining both low and high-variance bets in the same round, so they get the chance of a big win while still getting frequent wins.

Is Stake Roulette Rigged?

There is zero evidence that Stake games are rigged. The Stake Originals roulette game uses provably fair technology, which means players can verify the results themselves.

Developers like Evolution and Pragmatic Play provide the live dealer tables and have stellar reputations for fairness.

You can see the croupiers spinning the physical wheels in these streams. The odds are already built into the house edge, so online casinos and game providers don’t need to manipulate the gameplay to generate a profit.

How to Win at Roulette

Players always look for the next best Stake roulette strategy to try to increase their chances of winning. It’s worth noting that no strategy is foolproof, and you should not trust anyone who claims that they know the secret formula for roulette success.

The main approaches see players follow a betting pattern such as Martingale or Fibonacci, where they change the bet sizes by following a defined pattern. Then there are the more general tips, like how to properly manage your bankroll and the types of bets to place.

Stake.com Roulette Payouts

Understanding the standard payouts for roulette and their hit frequency can help you when trying to form a strategy while playing the game.

For example, European Roulette typically pays 35/1 for a straight-up bet, but the hit frequency is about 2.7%. That means, theoretically, you would only expect to successfully predict the correct number the ball finishes on once in every 37 spins.

Here’s a standard payout table (multiplier variants like Lightning Roulette pay differently on boosted numbers):

Stake has an extensive selection of 5,000+ games, so you always have something else to try if you need a break from roulette.

We like Stake Mines because we can control risk by choosing how many mines are on the table at a time. The gameplay also feels nostalgic for anyone who played the classic Minesweeper game.

The Stake.com crash game selection includes 22+ titles, including the unique type of Stake Aviator game called Crash. There’s no plane involved, but you still get the same fast-paced gameplay and decisions to make about when to cash out. The Stake Plinko game is a fun game to sit back and watch what multiplier buckets the balls eventually fall into.

Finally, the Stake Chicken game is another popular option, as it offers fun gameplay as you try to get the chicken across the road without getting hit by a car. The max multiplier of 181,060.88x makes it especially attractive.

New to Stake? The key difference between Stake.com vs Stake.us is that the latter only allows free play, with no real money deposits or withdrawals allowed. Anyone who’s outside the US in an eligible country and wants real winnings needs to choose Stake.com.
