Spotlight Sports Group (SSG) has partnered with Ascot Racecourse to roll out its Smart View product, aiming to enhance the horseracing experience for attendees through a more accessible and engaging racecard format. The initiative was introduced during the Howden Christmas Racing Weekend in December and has since been featured at multiple Ascot events.
Smart View is designed to simplify traditional racecards by presenting complex data through visually intuitive layouts. Inspired by interface styles found in video games such as FIFA and Football Manager, the format seeks to attract both seasoned racing fans and newcomers by making race information more digestible.
As part of the integration, Smart View will be displayed across several touchpoints at Ascot, including printed racecards, in-house self-service betting terminals (SSBTs), Tipster Boards, and “Bet with Ascot” screens. This move forms part of a broader effort to modernise the on-course betting and racegoing experience.
The partnership with Ascot adds to the growing footprint of Smart View, which is already in use across digital betting environments, including Racing Post’s Digital Betting Shop Display, York Racecourse, and Kindred Group’s sportsbook. The product reflects Spotlight Sports Group’s continued push to blend data, design and technology to engage a wider horseracing audience across the igaming and betting landscape.
Tony May, Senior Betting Manager at Ascot Racecourse, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “At Ascot, we are always looking for ways to make horse racing more accessible and easier to understand for our on course audience. Smart View does this in a really engaging, modern way and we are excited to be working with Spotlight Sports Group to present Smart View across the racecourse in a way that helps racegoers learn more about the sport and hopefully become more regular followers.”
Sam Houlding, Managing Director of B2B at Spotlight Sports Group, highlighted the strategic fit of the partnership: “We’re delighted to partner with Ascot Racecourse, a venue synonymous with world-class horseracing. Launching Smart View at such a prestigious racecourse is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation and horseracing fan engagement. We look forward to helping Ascot captivate its audience and expand fans’ connection with the sport.”
