BGC Announces AGM Date and Speaker Lineup for 2025

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has confirmed that its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2025 will take place on Thursday, February 27th, at a central London venue. The event will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow Secretary of State Stuart Andrew MP, and Gambling Commission CEO Andrew Rhodes.

The AGM, under the theme “Making a Difference,” will also include insights from industry leaders representing the diverse membership of the BGC. Operators will gather to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the iGaming and regulated betting sectors, focusing on collaborative efforts to deliver the White Paper, support economic growth, enhance customer entertainment, and raise industry standards.

Following the success of last year’s AGM, this year’s event will further explore how BGC members can work together to address the evolving regulatory landscape and drive positive change within the industry.

Registration for the AGM 2025 is now open, with BGC CEO Grainne Hurst encouraging members to register promptly to secure their participation.

The BGC represents over 90% of the regulated betting and gaming sector in the UK, contributing £6.8 billion to the economy, generating £4 billion in tax revenue, and supporting 109,000 jobs. The sector also plays a vital role in funding popular sports, with horseracing benefiting by £350 million annually, the English Football League receiving £40 million, and other sports such as snooker, darts, and rugby league gaining more than £12.5 million in support.

In the UK, approximately 22.5 million people engage in betting activities each month across various platforms, including lotteries, bookmakers, casinos, bingo halls, and online gaming. The majority of these individuals do so safely and responsibly, with the most recent NHS Health Survey for England estimating that only 0.4% of the adult population are problem gamblers.

BGC CEO Grainne Hurst said: “The BGC AGM is always a major highlight for our sector, and I am absolutely delighted to confirm such an outstanding line up of keynote speakers at this year’s AGM.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to Baroness Twycross, Stuart Andrew and Andrew Rhodes, for taking time out of their diaries to attend.

“On behalf of our members, and the tens of thousands of jobs they support, I want to say how much we value their vital engagement with industry.

“The Government has set out a bold mission to deliver growth, jobs and investment, and I know our members, championed by the BGC, have a critical role to play delivering on that challenge, across the UK.

“Our theme and strapline for this year’s AGM is Making a Difference, and as we move forward into a new era, post the publication of the White Paper, it could not be more fitting.

“After a long period of instability, we are looking forward to working with Government to deliver the outstanding policies from the White Paper so our sector can get back to what it does best, making a positive difference for their millions of customers, and the UK economy.

“We have much to get on with, and the AGM is the perfect place to set the tone for the rest of the year. I encourage everyone to sign up soon, and I look forward to welcoming you to our AGM in February.”
