Brightstar Lottery has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, outlining progress across its global sustainability programme as the company continues its transition to a pure-play lottery brand. The strategy is structured around three core areas: Empowering People, Collaborating with Partners and Preserving the Planet, each supported by dedicated operational initiatives.
According to the report, Brightstar’s efforts to support employees included receiving Top Employer certification for its operations in the United States, Canada and Italy for a third year. The company also introduced two additional Employee Impact Groups focused on mental health and Hispanic employee leadership, bringing the total number of groups to nine.
In relation to partnerships, Brightstar reported becoming the first supplier to obtain the National Council on Problem Gambling’s Internet Compliance Assessment Program Ready certification for its iLottery operations. The company also hosted its annual Coding and Robotics Rock! Camp in the Caribbean as part of its After School Advantage programme, which supports STEM-focused education in digital learning centres globally.
Environmental initiatives highlighted in the report included introducing life-cycle assessments for lottery terminals during product development and repurposing about 700,000 printing cartridges within Italy, equating to approximately 280 tonnes of plastic diverted from waste.
Brightstar stated that its sustainability programme continues to evolve across human rights, responsible gaming, community engagement, sustainable procurement and climate-related actions. The full 2024 report is available on the company’s website.
