Brightstar Lottery PLC has confirmed that its subsidiary, LottoItalia S.r.l., has signed a new agreement to continue operating the Italy Lotto for the next nine years. The announcement follows the licence award issued in July 2025 by the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli, after a competitive tender involving multiple bidders. LottoItalia is a consortium led by Brightstar and includes Allwyn, Arianna 2001 and Novomatic Italia.
Italy Lotto is recognised as the largest fixed-odds number game globally. Brightstar and its predecessor entities have managed the licence for more than three decades, and under the terms of the new agreement the operator will continue its role until November 2034.
Brightstar currently provides technology and services to nearly 90 lottery customers across six continents. The company is also the primary technology provider for 26 of the 46 U.S. lottery jurisdictions and for eight of the ten largest lotteries worldwide.
“We are delighted to finalize our agreement with ADM and honored to continue being entrusted to operate Italy Lotto, one of world’s largest lotteries,” said Renato Ascoli, Brightstar CEO, Global Lottery. “We look forward to driving Lotto wager growth with new player touchpoints and digitization of the retail experience, growing iLottery sales, and providing iCasino, sports betting, and other digital games to players in Italy.”
