Continent 8 Expands in US with Vermont Launch

Continent 8 Technologies, recognized for its managed hosting, connectivity, and cybersecurity solutions, has further extended its footprint in the United States by establishing operations in Vermont. This strategic move underscores the company’s commitment to supporting the burgeoning online sports betting industry within the region.

Located in Burlington, Vermont, Continent 8’s latest data center plays a pivotal role in facilitating the online operations of some of the nation’s leading sports betting platforms, including DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics. This development is timely, coinciding with the legalization of online sports betting in Vermont on June 16, 2023. Government projections suggest that this new regulatory landscape will generate close to $7 million in revenue for the state within the first year of legal operations.

The Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery has set January 11 as the official start date for licensed online sports betting operations, announcing DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics as the inaugural license recipients in December 2023. Continent 8’s presence in Vermont is a testament to its proactive, first-to-market strategy, which ensures that its clients can capitalize on new opportunities from the outset.

With the addition of Vermont, Continent 8 now boasts a significant presence in 30 states across the US, reinforcing its position as a leading technology solutions provider in the igaming industry. This expansion not only enhances Continent 8’s service portfolio but also supports the growth and sustainability of igaming operators in a rapidly evolving market.

Michael Tobin, Founder and CEO of Continent 8 Technologies, said: “We are proud to be able to support our customers in their strategic launch in one of the year’s most anticipated newly regulated online sports betting states. We have been relentless in our pursuit as a market leader and putting customers first.

“Our bold, first-to-market approach, done so over 25 years, is one of the many reasons our global customers continue to trust us with their mission critical technology and have developed such close strategic partnerships for decades. We are extremely excited to be planting a flag in the state of Vermont, not only for the future of the business, but one where I have a strong personal history.”
