Continent 8 Expands West Virginia Data Solutions

Continent 8 Technologies, a pivotal provider of digital infrastructure solutions encompassing managed hosting, network management, and cybersecurity for the igaming industry, is enhancing its presence in West Virginia. This strategic move involves the inauguration of a new facility, amplifying the company’s commitment to supporting the igaming sector’s burgeoning needs in North America and beyond.

In a visionary step, Continent 8 solidified its first-to-market status in the U.S. by establishing a facility in South Charleston, West Virginia, in 2018. This strategic positioning allowed its clients to seamlessly transition into the online sports betting sphere following its legalization in August of the same year.

Expanding its operational footprint, Continent 8, in collaboration with the Seneca Rocks Regional Development Authority, has launched a data center in Petersburg, West Virginia, situated over 200 miles from the South Charleston location. This new site is designed to offer advanced disaster recovery and business continuity services, ensuring operators and suppliers have resilient infrastructure support. Both facilities adhere to PCI DSS compliance standards, underscoring Continent 8’s dedication to maintaining rigorous security protocols.

Further enhancing its service portfolio in West Virginia, Continent 8 has secured approval from the state’s gambling regulator for its Public Cloud solution. This solution is already operational across the majority of the U.S. states with regulated gaming, offering a scalable, usage-based model that meets stringent regulatory criteria. This enables igaming operators and suppliers to efficiently enter and compete in the market.

As a testament to its leadership and expertise, Continent 8 serves as the infrastructure backbone for 85% of operators listed in the 2023 EGR US Power Rankings, demonstrating its pivotal role in the igaming ecosystem. In West Virginia alone, Continent 8’s infrastructure supports over 20 leading brands, reinforcing its status as a trusted partner in the state.

With a presence in 30 U.S. states and plans for further expansion, Continent 8 is poised to continue its growth trajectory. The company’s investment in extending its multi-site infrastructure across the U.S. and its global network of over 100 locations across four continents illustrates its commitment to advancing the igaming industry’s digital infrastructure needs.

Michael Tobin, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Continent 8 Technologies, said: “We are thrilled to have added a second site, allowing us to expand our offering to include disaster recovery, as well as our approved Public Cloud solution in our original site, further establishing Continent 8 as the leading infrastructure provider in the North American market.

“Infrastructure is the foundation operators and suppliers need to succeed, and that’s why the biggest players come to Continent 8. Our solutions, customer service, reputation and experience are unrivalled.”
