The Board of Kambi Group plc has announced the appointment of Werner Becher as the Company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Becher, who has extensive experience in the sports betting and technology sectors, will succeed Kristian Nylén on 25 July, following the publication of Kambi’s Q2 2024 report.
Werner Becher brings a wealth of expertise to Kambi, having previously held senior positions at Sportradar and Interwetten. At Sportradar, Becher initially served as Managing Director of the US-facing Betting arm before becoming CEO of the EMEA and LATAM business units. His tenure at Sportradar included playing a pivotal role in the company’s successful Nasdaq IPO in September 2021. Prior to this, Becher led Interwetten as CEO for eight years, guiding the company through a period of sustained growth. Most recently, he has been active as an independent investor and advisor.
Becher’s appointment follows a comprehensive search and selection process, identifying him as the ideal candidate to lead Kambi into its next phase of growth. His extensive experience in both B2B and B2C sectors, combined with his background in technology, positions him well to drive Kambi’s strategic initiatives forward.
Upon joining Kambi, Becher will focus on continuing the company’s success and advancing its position as a prominent sports betting partner. Kambi’s recent strategies include the modularisation of its platform, the incubation of its AI-pricing division Tzeract, and acquisitions of Abios and Shape Games.
Kristian Nylén, who co-founded Kambi and has served as CEO since 2010, announced his intention to step down in January. Nylén was elected to the Kambi Board of Directors at the Company’s Annual General Meeting in May and will support Becher to ensure a smooth transition.
This leadership change marks a significant milestone for Kambi as it continues to innovate and expand within the iGaming industry.
