PENN Entertainment to Initiate Construction of New Hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus

PENN Entertainment, Inc. is set to commence construction on a new hotel addition to Hollywood Casino Columbus. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for November 28, 2023, at 1pm ET. This project aligns with the company’s expansion strategy and is poised to enhance the guest experience at the Columbus location.

The hotel, budgeted at approximately $100 million, will be integrated with the existing casino facilities. It is anticipated to create hundreds of jobs during the construction phase and approximately 100 permanent positions once operational. The hotel’s design includes 180 rooms, meeting spaces, and an additional restaurant. Details of local partnerships and amenities will be disclosed in the future.

This hotel is a key component of PENN Entertainment’s extensive growth plan, which encompasses new land-based casino developments in Aurora and Joliet, Illinois, and an extra hotel tower in Henderson, Nevada. The Aurora project is notably supported by $50 million in funding from the City of Aurora. Furthermore, Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. has pledged up to $575 million towards the collective $850 million budget allocated for these four significant growth initiatives.

“We are thrilled to soon begin construction on a new, state-of-the-art hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus,” said Jay Snowden, CEO and President of PENN Entertainment. “Since opening in 2012, our Columbus property has experienced tremendous growth, and the addition of a hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus will create a true regional destination.”

“We are elated to be celebrating this day with our team members, supporters, and key stakeholders,” said Rick Skinner, Vice President & General Manager of Hollywood Casino Columbus. “We can’t wait to begin hiring new team members and welcoming more visitors from around the region to showcase our new hotel and the excitement of Hollywood Casino Columbus.”
