Betano has partnered with Fundación Empate to support an adapted football programme for athletes with Down syndrome in Argentina.
The initiative includes the launch of an adapted football-friendly tournament that will serve as part of the pathway towards Fundación Empate’s annual competition and the FUT21 National Tournament, a futsal event for athletes with Down syndrome scheduled to take place in October.
As part of the partnership, Betano will provide funding for weekly training sessions for 192 athletes and operational support for activities leading up to the national tournament. The programme is being delivered through the operator’s “Desafiá tus límites” initiative.
The collaboration also includes teacher training workshops for more than 800 sports professionals, including coaches, physical education teachers and physiotherapists, focusing on methodologies for inclusive sports and adapted environments.
According to the organisations, the programme is intended to support long-term participation and development in inclusive football while providing educational resources for those working with athletes with Down syndrome.
The partnership builds on Betano’s existing involvement in adapted sport in Argentina through its support of Los Murciélagos, the country’s national blind football team. The company said that programme has contributed to equipment, infrastructure and athlete support for more than 900 participants nationwide.
