Welcome to our partner Casino Cabbie’s second sparkling letter from America; fast becoming a must-read for all iGaming aficionados with a keen eye on the booming US market.

AGA Ups Its Game

In a significant update to its 2019 Responsible Marketing Code for Sports Wagering, the American Gaming Association (AGA) has banned members from using the highly-contentious claim of “risk-free” in their advertising.

Other reforms include a new requirement to review and update the code annually, the prohibition of sponsoring college teams and amateur or college athletes, and banning under 21-year-olds from being featured in gambling ads.

AGA members have until July 1 to meet full compliance.

New, New Hampshire

Senate Bill 104, aiming to legalize online casinos in the state, is up for a vote in New Hampshire.

The bill, set for final reading this Thursday, will require a majority in the House of Representatives and approval from Governor Christopher Sununu to pass into law.

The gaming proposal doesn’t cap the number of licenses but moots a 35 percent tax rate, with proceeds being used to fund a community college scholarship education programme.

Naughty-Naughty

In what can only be termed the mildest of reprimands, Pennsylvania’s Gaming Control Board has issued a total of US$60,000 of fines to errant operators Hollywood and Unibet Casinos and Evolution Gaming for responsible gambling failures.

The biggest sanction, US$45,000, was levied at Hollywood Casino for allowing five self-excluded players to join the casino. Unibet was fined US$7,500 for failing to suspend the account of one player who requested it and Evolution was rapped US$7,500 for allowing an unlicensed dealer to run several games.

Gambling Gold in Them Thar Hills

Green Mountain state Vermont is on the cusp of legalising sports betting – if HB 127, already given the thumbs up in the House of Representatives, passes muster in the State Senate.
