FanDuel has launched its online sportsbook and casino platform in Alberta, marking its entry into the province’s newly regulated iGaming market.
The operator, part of Flutter Entertainment, began offering its sportsbook and online casino products to customers aged 18 and over on 13 July.
Alongside the launch, FanDuel announced a series of community initiatives in Alberta. The company is donating C$50,000 to the A Dollar A Day Foundation to support mental health programmes in the province. The contribution follows previous donations made by FanDuel to the organisation in Ontario and Alberta over the past three years.
A further C$30,000 donation has been made to the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Management Program in Alberta to support disaster preparedness, emergency response and recovery efforts.
FanDuel has also entered an exclusive content agreement with Light & Wonder covering the Alberta market. Under the partnership, players using the FanDuel platform in Alberta will have exclusive access to the Huff N’ Puff slot franchise for the first four months following launch.
The operator has also renewed its partnership with the Canadian Football League (CFL) under a new multi-year agreement. As part of the renewed deal, the partnership will expand beyond Ontario to include Alberta, while online casino has been added as a new category within the agreement.
In addition, FanDuel has become the title sponsor of the Cowboys Stampede Showdown Charity Poker Tournament, which raises funds for the Calgary Stampede Foundation. According to FanDuel, the tournament has generated more than C$1.3 million for the charity.
“Alberta represents an exciting new chapter for FanDuel Canada, and we’re thrilled to bring our industry-leading Casino and Sportsbook experience to players across the province,” said Dale Hooper, General Manager, FanDuel Canada. “As we enter this new market, we’re committed to delivering a best-in-class entertainment experience and meaningful community engagement remains at the heart of everything we do.”
