Light & Wonder Debuts in South Africa with Hollywoodbets Partnership

Light & Wonder, Inc., a global gaming company, has successfully launched its first-party content in South Africa, collaborating with the country’s prominent operator, Hollywoodbets. This marks Light & Wonder’s strategic entry into South Africa’s burgeoning regulated igaming market, following authorization from the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (MER) and the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB).

The launch includes Light & Wonder’s proprietary igaming content, and soon, a selection of games from renowned third-party studios like ReelPlay, Big Time Gaming, Blueprint, Greentube, Gaming Realms, Inspired, Elk Studios, Relax, G Games, and Fantasma will also be accessible to Hollywoodbets’ customers.

Light & Wonder’s live casino offerings, powered by Authentic Gaming, have already established a strong presence in the region over the past three years. The company’s expansion into the online sector in Africa is a significant move, especially considering its established reputation in the continent’s land-based gaming market. Known for producing top-performing titles in physical gaming venues, these popular games are now available online, aligning with Light & Wonder’s global omnichannel strategy. This move represents a significant step in enhancing and diversifying gaming experiences in the South African market.

James Bustin, Commercial Director at Light & Wonder, said: “Entering South Africa’s online regulated market is an exciting move for Light & Wonder, allowing us to deliver on our promise of bringing new worlds of play to consumers worldwide.

“We are excited to have launched our online games that we know South Africans already love playing in land-based casinos, and now we look forward to launching even more content from our partner studios in the coming months.”

Wayde Dorkin, Head of Product at Hollywoodbets, said: “We want our players to enjoy the best possible casino experience and this launch with Light & Wonder means we have expanded access to a wide range of highly compelling content within a very potent new market.

“The initial range of games produced by Light & Wonder is very impressive and this is only the first step. By integrating Light & Wonder’s platform, we are looking forward to adding other third-party studios to our audience.”
