Maria Konnikova Rejoins PokerStars as North American Ambassador

Maria Konnikova, distinguished author, journalist, and poker professional, has been confirmed to reprise her role as an ambassador for PokerStars in North America. Notably, Konnikova was the inaugural female recipient of a PokerStars Platinum Pass during the 2018 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

With initial guidance from Erik Seidel in the realm of game theory, Maria embarked on a year-long journey into the world of live poker circuitry, having minimal prior knowledge about poker, to document her experience. Her subsequent publication, “The Biggest Bluff”, achieved the New York Times best-seller status and showcased her transformation into a poker tournament victor, amassing career earnings surpassing $450,000. Her prior association with PokerStars in 2018 makes her return a noteworthy event in the poker community.

Konnikova is scheduled to participate in the North American Poker Tour come November and will represent PokerStars in events such as the USCOOP and the Ten-Deuce freeroll. Further details can be found on the [PokerStars Blog](URL to be added).

Steve Preiss, VP, of PokerStars North America commented: “Maria’s ability to communicate the virtues of poker is unrivalled. She will be integral in our goal of expanding the game to new audiences.”

Maria said, “I’m very happy to once again be joining the PokerStars team as an ambassador. Poker is a game of skill that can teach us so much about our minds and ourselves — and I can’t wait to share my passion for it along with the incredible team at PokerStars. I’m quite excited for the vision that PokerStars has for U.S. expansion and am thrilled to play a small part in helping the world appreciate the true beauty and promise of a game I have come to love.”
