Midnite has executed an igaming marketing campaign involving a bet placed from a device launched to an altitude of 124,000 feet, in collaboration with Sent Into Space.
The activation involved sending a device equipped with a functional interface into the upper atmosphere, where a bet was placed via Midnite’s sportsbook application. The wager backed England to win the FIFA World Cup, with odds listed at 6/1 on the operator’s platform.
The campaign forms part of Midnite’s broader igaming marketing strategy, which focuses on digital engagement and brand differentiation within the UK’s regulated betting market. The company, which operates across sportsbook and casino verticals, has used the activation to demonstrate the functionality of its application in a non-traditional environment.
Former England international Gareth Barry was involved in the campaign, supporting the promotional activity linked to the World Cup betting market. As part of the initiative, Midnite also announced a £10,000 donation to the Bobby Moore Fund.
The use of high-altitude or space-adjacent campaigns reflects a wider trend in igaming marketing, where operators seek to generate attention through unconventional activations. These campaigns are often designed to coincide with major sporting events, leveraging increased audience engagement and betting activity.
Midnite’s campaign highlights ongoing competition within the igaming sector, where operators continue to invest in differentiated marketing approaches to attract users and increase brand visibility in a regulated environment.
Callum Wilson, Senior PR Manager at Midnite, commented: “By sending our app to space, we are showing our customers that we are truly Built Different. We have big ambitions at Midnite to separate ourselves from the rest, and becoming the first app to place a bet in space seemed a pretty good way of doing that.
“Our design and product team are very proud of the app we have created, and to showcase its prowess in another stratosphere is a representation of where Midnite aims to be.
“The World Cup is of course a massive moment for sports fans across the globe, and the excitement is rising, whether at home, abroad, or even in space! It was great to work with Gareth Barry, whose confidence in Tuchel’s side led him to back England to win the World Cup, and if that bet comes in, Midnite will be donating £10,000 to the Bobby Moore fund as part of this campaign.”
Gareth Barry, former England midfielder who represented his country at the 2010 World Cup, added: “I have confidence that this England side has what it takes to win the World Cup. They have the major tournament experience now, and they have a world class manager to take the next step. Much like Midnite, I think this side is Built Different, and I wanted to back them in a way that hasn’t been done before.
“To get the chance to place a charity bet on England winning is great, but to see Midnite actually make it happen in space is amazing.
“I couldn’t believe it, watching the thumb move to place the bet in such a stunning setting.
“The app is clearly built different, working at such a height. I think England are too, which is why I think they can win the World Cup.”
“Midnite are making waves in the industry, and to be involved in a campaign like this where they continue to push the boundaries is something I’m really pleased about.”
