DraftKings to Introduce Mobile Sports Betting in North Carolina
DraftKings Inc. has revealed its upcoming launch of the esteemed online sportsbook in North Carolina, scheduled for March 11, 2024. This launch marks a significant milestone in DraftKings’ efforts to collaborate with stakeholders and regulatory bodies within North Carolina to introduce a responsible sports betting experience. Following an agreement with NASCAR earlier in the year, DraftKings is set to expand its digital sports entertainment and gaming services to the state. Upon this launch, DraftKings Sportsbook will extend its reach to 27 states across the U.S., as well as Ontario, Canada.
North Carolina, with its rich sports heritage, is home to a significant portion of the NASCAR industry, professional NFL, NBA, and NHL teams, and numerous Division-I universities. DraftKings aims to engage sports enthusiasts in the state with several responsible betting options starting from March 11. The platform will feature an array of betting markets, including same-game parlays, in-game betting, and special odds boosts, all within a secure, regulated environment equipped with various customer protection measures.
To commemorate the introduction of legalized mobile sports betting in North Carolina, DraftKings is organizing a ceremonial first bet with the involvement of Carolina Panthers legend Greg Olsen on March 11, 2024, at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte. The event will highlight contributions from Olsen, DraftKings Chief Commercial Officer Jeremy Elbaum, and North Carolina State Rep. Zack Hawkins.
In alignment with the launch, DraftKings is also participating in Problem Gambling Awareness Month this March, in partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling, to raise awareness about problem gaming and available support services. DraftKings and NASCAR, both members of the American Gaming Association, are dedicated to promoting responsible gaming practices through the Have A Game Plan.® Bet Responsibly™ campaign.
