International Game Technology PLC (NYSE: IGT) has announced that its global lottery business will now operate under the name Brightstar Lottery, following a corporate rebranding initiative aligned with the planned sale of its Gaming and Digital segments.
The rebrand is effective immediately and comes ahead of the expected July 1, 2025, completion of the transaction that will see IGT’s Gaming division acquired by Voyager Parent, LLC, an entity owned by funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management, Inc. (NYSE: APO). Upon completion of this sale, Brightstar will function as a standalone lottery-focused enterprise.
Brightstar Lottery will continue to serve approximately 90 customers across six continents, maintaining its role as the primary technology provider for more than half of U.S. state lotteries and seven of the world’s ten largest lotteries. The company plans to retain its comprehensive offerings, which include lottery operations, retail and digital technology systems, game design, and full-service instant ticket solutions.
The Brightstar name is intended to reflect the organisation’s strategic direction as a dedicated lottery business, emphasising innovation, player engagement, and sustainability. The company stated it will continue to invest in modernising core technologies while leveraging its legacy capabilities to support lottery partners globally.
The restructuring and rebranding are part of a broader strategy to separate IGT’s lottery and gaming operations into distinct, focused entities, each optimised for growth in its respective market.
“We have a nearly 50-year history of reliability, innovation, and leadership in lottery, a bedrock from which we are launching Brightstar with a future-forward mindset of helping lottery customers around the world succeed in an environment of digital adoption, shifting player expectations, and an increasing variety of gaming choices,” said Vince Sadusky, CEO of Brightstar.
“Brightstar will be well-positioned to focus on driving innovation and growing the potential of the lottery business responsibly for the entertainment of players, the success of our customers, and the support of the good causes they fund in their communities,” said Marco Sala, Executive Chair of the Board, Brightstar.
