Midnite has relaunched its “Midnite Express” initiative, providing free travel for Southampton FC supporters attending the upcoming FA Cup semi-final, as part of its wider igaming-linked fan engagement strategy.
The initiative will see three coaches transport more than 100 fans from St Mary’s Stadium to Wembley Stadium on 25 April, following demand from supporters and disruption to rail services. The campaign follows a similar activation earlier in the season, when Midnite funded travel for fans attending an away fixture, and forms part of its ongoing partnership with Southampton as the club’s training kit sponsor.
The return of the Midnite Express was influenced by fan engagement across social media, with supporters calling for the initiative to be reinstated for the semi-final fixture against Manchester City. The operator confirmed the campaign after gauging feedback from its audience, reflecting the increasing role of community-driven activations within igaming marketing strategies.
The trip also coincides with the 50th anniversary of Southampton’s FA Cup victory in 1976, a milestone that has been referenced in recent fan-focused initiatives, including matchday displays developed in collaboration with supporter groups. Former players, including Shane Long, Franny Benali and Ken Monkou, are expected to be involved in the travel experience.
The activation highlights how igaming operators are integrating sponsorships with experiential campaigns, using live sporting events to build brand visibility and strengthen engagement with club communities in regulated markets.
Andrew Mook, Head of Brand Marketing at Midnite, added: “The response to the Midnite Express this season has been incredible and when fans asked for it to return, we were keen to deliver.
“Supporting Saints fans is central to what we do, whether that is easing the challenges around travel or helping create memorable experiences around the game.
“This is a huge moment for Southampton, especially in such an important anniversary year, and we are proud to help fans get there to support their team.
“We hope this journey will make the match day experience even better.”
