North Star Network is excited to announce the strategic acquisition of AlAireLibre.cl, marking a significant expansion in the South American sports media landscape. This acquisition from the Cooperativa Group enhances North Star’s presence in the region.
Since its establishment in 2018, AlAireLibre.cl has become a prominent source for sports news in Chile, especially known for its comprehensive coverage of the Chilean Primera División and the national football team. This acquisition adds to North Star Network’s extensive portfolio, which includes notable media properties like Sports Mole, Top Mercato, Afrik-Foot, Trivela, Premier League Brasil, and Vringe, further broadening its global reach.
North Star Network commits to retaining the original team of journalists from AlAireLibre.cl to preserve the site’s authentic voice, authority, and unique content style that has resonated with the Chilean audience. Meanwhile, Cooperativa will continue to deliver sports content through its radio and online platforms.
As a leading sports media group with operations in 30 countries, North Star Network employs a team of 85 professionals, headquartered in Paris, with additional offices in Lille and Sao Paulo. This acquisition underlines North Star’s dedication to delivering high-quality sports journalism and expanding its influence across international markets.
North Star Network co-founder Julien Josset said: “I want to thank the Grupo Cooperativa team for their trust and professionalism. AlAireLibre is a reference sports media brand in Latin America. Working closely with the legacy team and our internal experts, we are confident we can take this brand to the next level.”
Grupo Cooperativa CEO Luis Ajenjo said: “The initial relationship with North Star Network until reaching this positive conclusion allowed us to get to know a highly professional and committed team with whom we resolved multiple details of an unprecedented negotiation.
“We wish them great success in this new stage of AlAireLibre.cl. Cooperativa will continue to inform our audience about all sporting events, on radio and online, as it has done since its foundation in 1935.”
