CIRSA Acquires Ganabet.mx

CIRSA, the Spanish gambling group owned by Blackstone, has recently announced its acquisition of GanaBet.mx, a Guadalajara-based operator in Mexico. The deal, which comes at a cost of €20m, is part of the company’s strategy to expand its sportsbook operations globally.

This acquisition will add to CIRSA’s existing sportsbook brands, including Sportium in Spain and EPlay24 in Italy. GanaBet is the fifth largest online betting house in Mexico, offering licenses for online casino, slots, and bingo in addition to sports betting.

Despite rumors of an IPO for the gambling group, Blackstone has yet to reveal its plans for the business after acquiring it from Manuel Lao Hernandez in 2018.

Last month, CIRSA’s board announced a split in the CEO and chairman roles, with Joaquim Agut now serving as chairman and Antonio Hostench as CEO.

Overall, the acquisition of GanaBet.mx by CIRSA is a significant step in the company’s global expansion plan in the iGaming and sports betting sectors.
