Codere Group, a prominent player in the iGaming industry, has announced the appointment of Gonzaga Higuero as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This strategic move comes as Codere enters a new phase, with Higuero tasked with leading the company towards sustained growth and maintaining its leadership position in global markets.
Higuero assumes the role of permanent CEO following a transitional period subsequent to the departure of co-CEOs Alberto González del Solar and Alejandro Rodino last year. His extensive experience and expertise make him well-equipped to guide Codere through this transformative phase.
One of Higuero’s primary responsibilities will be driving the expansion of Codere’s online business, further solidifying its presence in the digital realm. Additionally, he will play a crucial role in developing the Nueva Codere unit, paving the way for future advancements.
Higuero’s impressive track record includes serving as the CEO of the Health Transportation Group, where he successfully led refinancing efforts and oversaw key acquisitions, resulting in substantial company growth. Prior to this role, he held various management positions over a span of 15 years at Prosegur, where he held significant responsibilities as General Manager for Latin America South, General Manager for EMEA and the Pacific of Prosegur Cash, and General Manager for Europe.
In 2022, Codere achieved remarkable financial results, with revenues reaching $1.4 billion, marking a substantial 67.5% increase compared to the previous year. The company’s adjusted EBITDA for the same period amounted to $248.5 million, a significant $143.5 million higher than in 2021, resulting in an impressive adjusted EBITDA margin of 17.6%.
With Gonzaga Higuero at the helm, Codere is poised for continued success and growth in the dynamic and competitive landscape of the iGaming industry. His strategic vision and leadership acumen will be instrumental in driving the company forward, ensuring its position as a key player in the global market.
