DraftKings will launch its online sportsbook and casino in Alberta on 13 July, marking the operator’s entry into Canada’s second regulated online gambling province.
The launch will make Alberta the 34th jurisdiction across North America where DraftKings Sportsbook is available. DraftKings Casino and the Golden Nugget Online Gaming brand will also become available in Alberta, joining their existing presence in Ontario.
Eligible customers in Alberta will have access to DraftKings’ online sportsbook, including same-game parlays, live betting and odds boosts, alongside online casino products offered through DraftKings Casino and Golden Nugget Online Gaming.
Ahead of the market launch, DraftKings will host a FIFA World Cup watch party in Calgary on 11 July as part of a series of events held across North America during the tournament.
To coincide with its Alberta launch, the company also announced that employees will volunteer with Food Banks Alberta and that DraftKings will donate CAD$150,000 to the organisation. According to the operator, the funding will be used to purchase more than 40,000 pounds of food for distribution through Food Banks Alberta’s network of member food banks across the province.
“We’re thrilled to launch DraftKings Sportsbook and DraftKings Casino, as well as Golden Nugget Online Gaming in Alberta and continue expanding our presence in Canada,” said Greg Karamitis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sports at DraftKings. “Alberta is home to a passionate sports fan base, and we’re excited to bring customers across the province our industry-leading sports betting and online casino experiences. Launching during one of the biggest moments in global sports, with the World Cup taking place across North America, makes this an especially exciting time to welcome Albertans to DraftKings.”
