FanDuel CEO Amy Howe Loses Fantasy Shoot-out With Prediction Markets

BREAKING NEWS: Currently being out-gunned and out-played by hot-shot prediction markets disruptors, FanDuel has today announced the shock departure of its CEO Amy Howe.

Immediately putting an end to any “was she pushed or did she jump” speculation, Peter Jackson, boss of FanDuel’s owner, Irish-origin Flutter Entertainment, said: “With significant growth potential ahead, we have decided this is the right moment for new leadership at FanDuel.

“I would like to thank Amy for her contribution to Flutter and FanDuel and recognise the impact she has had on the business since joining in 2021.”

The shock move–softened, no doubt, by compensation of some US$4.37 million (£3.2m) comes on the day that now-New York-based and NYSE-listed Flutter publish their first quarterly results of this year, 2026.

Both FanDuel and its hitherto chief rival in the DFS betting space, DraftKings, have been feeling the heat from coming prediction markets, led by Kalshi and Polymarket, who have blown-up iGaming and seized the zeitgeist by offering “trades”–technically not bets–on outcomes and results; circumventing anti-sports gambling legislation in many jurisdictions.

Impact and Initiative

Facing huge potential impacts on their online sports betting operations, FanDuel and Massachusetts-origin DraftKings have attempted to seize back the initiative by leaving the representative American Gaming Association (AGA) last year and launching prediction markets of their own, FanDuel Predicts and DraftKings Predictions.

Ousted FanDuel CEO Amy Howe, a blow softened by a reported pay-out of US$4.37 million (£3.2m)

“Patently the powers that be at Flutter felt Howe was not up to the Kalshi/DraftKings challenge,” a highly-placed source in the gambling omnichannel–owners also of top betting brands Paddy Power, Sky Bet & Gaming, Sisal, et al–told iGamingFuture on the condition of anonymity.

Before joining FanDuel, Howe was president and CEO of Ticketmaster and a senior executive at Live Nation.

Emotional Farewell

In an emotional farewell post to FanDuel colleagues on social media she wrote: “Thank you for an incredible journey.

“As leaders our character is defined by the company we keep, not the company we work for. Be kind. This can be easier said than done at times, particularly in a world as competitive and dynamic as ours.

“While I will be moving onto a new chapter, I will always be cheering you on. I am deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me, for the tremendous accomplishments we achieved, and for the memories we created together.”

Christian Genetski, FanDuel’s President since 2015, will now replace Howe as CEO.

Flutter have not yet confirmed if this is a permanent or holding move.
