William Hill launches Masters offer tied to McIlroy win

William Hill has rolled out a promotional offer ahead of this year’s Masters Tournament, with a customer incentive tied to Rory McIlroy’s performance at Augusta. The offer provides bettors with a money-back guarantee, issued as a free bet of up to £50, should McIlroy secure a victory this week.

The promotion applies to the first bet placed on The Masters by customers who opt in from Wednesday, and remains valid until 6pm BST on Thursday—after the tournament begins.

McIlroy is currently priced at 11/2 with William Hill, positioning him as the second-favourite behind defending champion Scottie Scheffler, who leads the market at 9/2. The 11/2 odds are McIlroy’s shortest pre-tournament price at Augusta in over a decade, as he looks to complete a career Grand Slam.

According to William Hill, McIlroy has attracted more than 20% of total stakes in the outright market, making him the bookmaker’s biggest liability heading into the first golf major of the year. The igaming operator’s offer comes as part of broader promotional activity aimed at engaging sportsbook customers around marquee sporting events.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “A thrilling week of golfing action is in store at Augusta and all the talk is about whether Rory McIlroy will finally complete his career Grand Slam at The Masters.

“We’re sticking our neck out to give our customers the best week of betting action possible with a Money Back as a Free Bet (up to £50) offer should McIlroy emerge victorious in Augusta.

“He’s currently second-favourite in our market, sat behind defending champion Scottie Scheffler, but this could easily change should Rory get on a roll on the Augusta greens.

“More than 21% of stakes in our market so far have been on McIlroy – he’s the biggest liability in our book.

“It’s been a long 11-year wait since McIlroy’s last Major triumph, but this could well be the year that he finally gets to try on that iconic Green Jacket.”
