Fitzdares Joins BGC Ahead of Key Period for Gaming Industry

Fitzdares, the world’s finest bookmaker, has just joined the Betting and Gaming Council in a move that will bolster the strength and plurality of opinions surrounding the future of the UK gaming industry.

Fitzdares has operated as a personal bookmaker since 1882, with strong customer relationships allowing them to offer a bespoke, safe betting environment to their medium-sized – but growing – base.

The Betting and Gaming Council is the standards body for the UK-regulated betting and gaming industry, committed to driving change and promoting safer gambling.

In an ever-changing landscape for the gaming industry, it is key that as many voices are heard by the government ahead of moves that could have a ripple effect on the British economy and people’s enjoyment of a flutter.

Both Fitzdares and the BGC see enhanced affordability checks as a welcome and necessary move for the gaming industry, while recognising checks must be targeted to protect the most vulnerable and not spoil the enjoyment of the vast majority who bet responsibly.

William Woodhams, Fitzdares’ CEO said, “As a medium-sized independent and boutique business, we wanted our voice heard. The BGC gives us the opportunity to be at the table where the key decisions are being made in UK gaming”.
