Midnite activates derby day stunt ahead of Man City hearing

UK-based igaming operator Midnite launched a high-profile marketing initiative at the Manchester derby on Sunday, distributing limited edition scarves referencing Manchester City’s ongoing financial charges ahead of the match at Old Trafford.

The campaign saw 500 red-and-yellow scarves handed out to Manchester United supporters. Each featured a bold “115” design, symbolising the number of financial charges Manchester City faces in a pending court case concerning alleged breaches of Premier League regulations.

The move, which coincided with heightened attention around the case, drew immediate engagement from match-goers. The initiative is part of a broader brand awareness push by Midnite, following its recent appointment as the official betting and casino partner of the 2025 World Snooker Championship and the rollout of its first television advertising campaign in March.

While the Premier League investigation into Manchester City’s finances remains unresolved, the timing of Midnite’s campaign reflects an effort to align brand visibility with topical events in UK sport.

A Midnite spokesperson said: “We caused a stir ahead of the Manchester derby by handing out special edition scarves that reminded City about their 115 charges.

“We wanted to create a keepsake for fans in attendance as City fans face an anxious wait over their alleged breaking of financial rules.”
