Tekkorp Capital Advises and Invests in New Australian Sports Betting Venture

Tekkorp Capital announced today that they are joining forces with Australian media and gaming industry titans, forming a game-changing new sports betting venture with News Corp Australia, and online sports betting pioneer Matt Tripp, the former founder and Chairman of Sportsbet and CEO of BetEasy.

Tekkorp Capital, the investment fund and strategic advisory firm founded by Matt Davey, advised on the transaction and will be investing significantly in this exciting new venture. The venture will also benefit from Davey and Tekkorp Capital President, Robin Chhabra’s significant experience in the Australian online wagering market and track record of success in delivering value from media-wagering partnerships. Both executives will be joining the board of the new venture.

A legend in online sports betting in Australia, Tripp was attracted by the strength of the team involved in this consortium and its ability to continue his unrivalled track record of delivering innovative products and experiences for Australian customers.

BetMakers Technology Group, the global wagering technology solutions supplier, has been selected as the exclusive platform and services provider.

Tekkorp Capital’s Matt Davey, an Australian who has 25 years’ experience within gaming, growing early stage ventures into global powerhouses, said: “The new venture is a significant investment by Tekkorp Capital and one that I am very excited about. We’re sure this is a good bet for Tekkorp Capital.”

Robin Chhabra, a leading M&A adviser in the digital gaming sector as well as founding CEO of FOX Bet, a joint venture between FOX Corporation and The Stars Group, and a former Board Director of Matt Tripp’s BetEasy, said: “The Australian online sports betting market has been booming but is ripe for innovation and competition. This consortium has the mix of skills, experience and capital to become a significant player.”
