Gaming Innovation Group Inc. (GiG) has confirmed Richard Carter as the new CEO for its Platform and Sportsbook division. This decision comes in line with GiG’s plan to split the company into two distinct entities.
Earlier this year, GiG shared its intention to divide the firm, aiming to leverage specific growth opportunities for each segment. The anticipated separation aims to create two entities with their individual growth trajectories.
Richard Carter’s background in the igaming industry includes his role as CEO of SBTech, during which he was instrumental in the company’s merger with DraftKings in association with Diamond Eagle Acquisition Corp in April 2020. He was also associated with Bragg, an online casino and gaming platform provider listed on Nasdaq and TSX. Before SBTech, Carter was with Deutsche Bank, working on their Pan-European Gaming Equity Research initiative.
Carter will officially begin his role with GiG on 18 September 2023.
In his upcoming role, Carter will focus on enhancing GiG’s Platform and Sportsbook division’s footprint in the global igaming market. GiG’s current offering includes proprietary technology provided as Software-as-a-Service to clients across various markets. Carter’s tasks also involve transitioning the division into a separate publicly listed SaaS company, aligning resources and development to foster innovation and efficiency.
Richard Carter says: “I am delighted to become the Platform and Sportsbook CEO of GiG at such an exciting time in the Group’s development. With its outstanding data led proprietary technology platform, sector leading regulated market coverage and diverse product portfolio, the GiG Platform is exceptionally well positioned to maintain its recent strong growth momentum.”
“I can’t wait to get started and am very much looking forward to working with the GiG Platform and Sportsbook team, building on the strong progress to date, and over time helping to unleash and extract the full potential of a standalone GiG platform.”
Petter Nylander, GiG’s Chairman of the Board commented: “We are very pleased and excited to announce that Richard Carter will join GiG as Platform and Sportsbook CEO during Q3, 2023. The Board believes Richard Carter has the relevant experience, given his success as CEO of SBTech and has shown an impressive and deep understanding of the GiG business, its opportunities and provided thoughtful strategic considerations on how build on the recent success of the Platform and Sportsbook business and driving shareholder value.”
